A modest proposal
My perspective of abortion is quite vague. I think there are certain circumstances were I would agree with abortion and others were I would not agree with abortion. One said would say killing a fetus is murder and should not be tolerated or even legal. This is a good point because technically it is or will become a person and many would argue they have a right to live. However, there are many circumstances were I think abortion is alright. If a women is raped and becomes pregnant I think abortion is perfectly normal and OK because they should not have to suffer even more pain then what had already occurred. If a family is in a financial crisis and can not afford a baby it would be unfair to have the baby live a miserable life as well. Under no circumstance do I think its OK to use abortion as birth control. I found this article very confusing but it did raise some key concerns that we need to deal with in everyday life.

I agree with your article to an extent. The reasons you give for the "pro-choice" side are spot on. I didn't even think about a family in finacial crisis. However, on the flip side I don't really agree with the "Pro-life" side. I don't believe that life starts once the sperm hits the egg. At that point all the "baby" is is nothing more than a wad of fleash inside a mothers body. Its more of a parasite than a person. I do believe that life truely begins when the baby has grow enough and its internal organs are self-sustaining. At that point, all the baby needs is nutreints to survive until birth. Then and only then could it be considered murder...
ReplyDeleteI too have a vague interpretation of rightful abortion. However i am much more allowing of abortion rights. I think instead of there being specific situations where abortion is accepted, there should only be certain circumstances when it is not. If a baby is mature enough to live on its own outside the woom without intensive care it should not be aborted. Do not kill what could live but do not sustain what is not yet viable. If a woman abuses her right to abortions and repetitively has them, she should not be allowed to have kids at all. Other than that it is a woman's body and her decision what to do with it.
