Many interesting and important points were made in this article about visual images. A picture is only as powerful as the people who view it. I do believe authors sometimes over exaggerate images to draw more attention to a subject. It is unfortunate that some images are paired with words that draw a negative perceptive. It seems as if they will create absurd titles and captions to grab attention and sell.
I am a visual learner so I enjoyed learning more about this subject and think it is amazing what technology has done over the last few years. The “digital” era makes taking, saving, and sending pictures very easy. It wasn’t that long ago when we couldn’t send pictures across the country or even world via cell phone.
I believe authors and writers need to spend more time creating a title or caption of a picture so that it is more accurate doesn’t offend anybody.

It is true that “A picture is only as powerful as the people who view it”, but that is the reason that people might find the caption underneath it offensive. Everyone has their own different views of what they see and that’s what I believe occurred in the two pictures that were taking during Hurricane Katrina. I really don’t think the authors were trying to offend anyone, but just simply the way they interpreted the pictures. I also find amazing what technology has done over the last few years, I just can’t wait to see what technology has in store for us in the future.
