Evaluating a Web Site

I found this passage out of the textbook to be very informal and useful to evaluations. Evaluating Web pages is just like evaluating other important information, you must check for authenticity and have an opinion as well. This website like most school run web sites have an administrator (the Teacher or professor) which as the authority to control options and students who are seen by the administrator. There are many secure web sites used within the government to protect themselves from intruders and I'm sure it is the top of the line security system. I enjoy the polls on websites to see if others agree with you or not. Creating a web page can be difficult and take a lot of time but in the end its worth it if your happy with it. The most important thing about a web site is to keep it secure and update it very often so your news in new.

  2. I agree with you about how the website evaluation checklist is a universal one. Meaning that we can use the same criteria we use to evaluate websites and apply that to anything we may want to evaluate. When you say," You must check for authenticity and have an opinion as well." What do you mean by opinion as well? Do you mean a bias of the website? Good blog, that is all I have to say.

  3. The most important thing about a website is definitely to keep it secure and updated as much as possible. I cannot stand going to a website that is old and all of its facts are useless because no one maintains it. In addition, if the website is not secure it can be very risky for the viewer that is visiting that website. A statement I don’t agree with you is the one you said in the in the beginning about the article being “ very informal”. I found the article to be quite formal and useful for learning about websites and knowing how to evaluate them.

  4. It really is true when you step back an look at it. Websites are a universal source of information no matter where you go. One site gives you the news, another site, well... let not go there but you get the idea. Most websites are reliable, secure, and trustworthy, Even the source for useless information wikipedia...
