Male Body Image
I believe that the Male body image vs the female body image are two polar opposite situations. The reality is that a male body is easier to maintain an acceptable shape or physique then a female one. This is mainly because the male body had more muscle and males are born with more athletic ability. There's no doubt that there is millions of out of shape males in this world but it doesn't seem as important to them as it does to females. It is a lot easier to turn fat into muscle then to just burn it off. This makes losing weight easier for males then females. Sure males want to be in good shape but I don't see males saying "I want Brad Pitt's Body" on a daily basis. As for females I often hear who they idealize and want to look just like. I think liposuction is a ridiculous procedure that only lazy and out of shape people do. If your really to large to loose weight then you have some serous issues. Just looking back at history it seems less and less people were overweight as time goes backwards and is it fast food to blame? I don't think so, I think the reason people in general are getting out of weight is due to a increase in technology and a increase of laziness. People seem like there is more important things than working out, like watching t.v or browsing the web and that is the major problem in the world we live in today. Therefor, regardless if your male of female there is a obease problem developing in this country and only yourself can take steps to prevent this to happening to yourself.

Full Body Image
Body image is a very interesting subject. The stats tell a valuable story of life and it is sad to think about. Body image can be a very personal issue and embarrassing for most young females. As much as 88% of young girls feel negative about their body shape and up to half have a eating disorder. It is sad that the world we live in may judge people by their weight or physical appearance but it is inevitable for many reasons. I do not think it is difficult to get into shape. You can eat as much as you want as long as you exercise. I think a lack of exercise is the main reason for obesity now a days. People seem to be getting more lazy as time goes on. I am sick of people playing video games instead of playing basketball. I don't blame fast food for obesity strictly because of people generally being lazy. There is so much time over the week when I'm just sitting around, there is plenty of opportunity's to get outside and do something proactive. All in all this was a very disturbing but true article about body images in young adults and how we are brainwashed about our body's.

EOA 529-532 I have a Dream
Its vary sad to think that 100 years after slavery and the civil war that "African Americans" were still not free. Yes they were allowed to do most of the things they enjoyed but were caught in the middle of segregation. Dr. King was saying that he thought all of the equal rights laws should have been passed at the same time and it was unfortunate everything turned out how it did. It is amazing thinking how far our great Nation has came from slavery to segregation now to having an African American president it is hard to fathom. Dr. Kings I have a dream speech will never be forgotten as all the famous words sound so familiar everything I listen to it. Dr. King makes many references to the Deceleration of Independence in his speech showing the true meaning of being an American. Another important argument Dr. King had was that "all men are created equal" when it obviously didn't seem to be the case. All in all the civil rights movement was one of the most important historic event in our great nation of the United Stated of America.

Revising
Revising shouldn't be over looked when it comes to writing papers. Now a days people may think spell check can take care of there mistakes but it is often best when other peers review as well. Spell check might not always give you the best sentence structure and other mistakes are not uncommon. Revising is the final step in writing a paper and is just as important as the first. Don't make assumptions that may be a norm to you and baffling to others. Make sure every paragraph is coherent and you have a strong thesis and conclusion. Your spacing and font size are important so your paper looks the best. Most people recommend 12 point font and double spaced. This will also vary on the specific subject and teachers preference. Always keep your audience honest, what I mean by this is don't make your paper to predictable. When revising I think it is important to read over the paper twice to make any necessary revisions as possible. I have never been a person to read aloud but if you feel it works feel free. I think revising is a very important process in writing a paper and think the paper should be easy to read with a certain rhythm rather then a clumsy construction which keeps the audience guessing.

Evaluating a Web Site
I found this passage out of the textbook to be very informal and useful to evaluations. Evaluating Web pages is just like evaluating other important information, you must check for authenticity and have an opinion as well. This website like most school run web sites have an administrator (the Teacher or professor) which as the authority to control options and students who are seen by the administrator. There are many secure web sites used within the government to protect themselves from intruders and I'm sure it is the top of the line security system. I enjoy the polls on websites to see if others agree with you or not. Creating a web page can be difficult and take a lot of time but in the end its worth it if your happy with it. The most important thing about a web site is to keep it secure and update it very often so your news in new.

Bekoff 85-109
This bit of reading was very interesting to say the least. I do believe that animals play fair and are honest most of the time with each other. It is probable that animals communicate with each other, thus they have rules when they play games just like humans. Animals play all shorts of games all the time. Some might consider survival a game for most of them. Animals can be punished by allies and other animals by not getting to play with others. There is a mother for animals so its not like there own there own all the time. The bottom line is that I do believe animals have thoughts and moral rules just like humans and they act as civil as possible in having rules and consequences. The one subject about "fairness" for animals that is hard for me to understand is marriage. It seems that animals do not form relationships with the opposite sex very often. Most of the time the female is the dominant sex and the father is not a big part in the animals life. It is hard to think animals believe in marriage because they often mate with more then 1 animals and bread with others a lot of the time. However, I am one that does put humans on the top of the pedestal compared to other species because of the reality they we are the best combination of biggest, strongest, fastest, and most importantly smartest. Yes humans can be horrible people but it is still evident that we are better then animals.

EOA 393-400
This article makes many good points on how America has changed in the last five years. It is interesting how we are fighting in Iraq when Al Qaeda seems to be the more dangerous threat. It must be tough on people living in America from the middle east because of all the stereotypes that surround them. Relating this article to a previous one about terrorist attacks in the world. The article stated that the Middle East had the Least amount of terrorist attacks and a South American country had the most. I think that most of the Middle East terrorist attacks were aimed towards the USA as to a small percent from South America aimed towards USA. This article certainly seems to be a one sides argument for pro war. The author strongly believes in war to protect our country. There is no doubt that people are out to get us everyday and we have to rely on our troops to protect us no matter what. Sometimes I don't always agree with our Nations decisions but I respect them and hope for the best.

A modest proposal
My perspective of abortion is quite vague. I think there are certain circumstances were I would agree with abortion and others were I would not agree with abortion. One said would say killing a fetus is murder and should not be tolerated or even legal. This is a good point because technically it is or will become a person and many would argue they have a right to live. However, there are many circumstances were I think abortion is alright. If a women is raped and becomes pregnant I think abortion is perfectly normal and OK because they should not have to suffer even more pain then what had already occurred. If a family is in a financial crisis and can not afford a baby it would be unfair to have the baby live a miserable life as well. Under no circumstance do I think its OK to use abortion as birth control. I found this article very confusing but it did raise some key concerns that we need to deal with in everyday life.
Fast Food?
I do not blame fast food at all for people being over weight. Their are many other reasons people are overweight in America compared to other country's. I think technology is a major part in obesity. If you look at our country 30 years ago before the internet and digital TV people were a lot more active and most were not over-weight. Now kids are more concerned in playing video games or watching TV then playing sports or going to the park. It a shame that Americas pastime of baseball has seemed to turn into a forgotten subject of American history. It irritated me so much over the summer on kids complaining about the heat or being lazy instead of playing aports with myself or other friends. I just feel that now a days people rely on others to do their work for them and need to take responsibility for themselves.

EOA 288 289
It is amazing on what technology is and has turned into. I feel over the last 20 years technology has made the biggest steps in the world then any other time period. Just to think 20 years ago we as humans did not have cell phones, digital cameras, computers, the internet, etc. Now it seems as daily procedure to send text messages and blog to friends on facebook. It would have been very interesting to see youthful videos or former presidents and it seems inevitable that we will over the next few years. It seems life as a kid would have been drastically different had I grown up 20 years ago. The media may very well be taking over the internet world as well.

VT Shooting
Many interesting points were told in this article that I was unaware of. I liked how she went into more detail about the shooting to give us all a better perspective on really how bad it was. Just thinking about it 33 people killed in a shooting by a inexperience student is just mind boggling. I couldn't imagine what kind of gun was used, how many people were in the class rooms, and how long this crisis went on for. I'm not sure why CNN is crowing this man that captured brief video footage on his cell phone and calling him a hero. Yes it certainly is useful video and he was very courage for staying on the scene. Some would call him crazy and others stupid but realistically he might have wanted to be a "hero". Personally, recording this scene on my cell phone would be that last thing on my mind.

SIngle-Sex Education
It is clear that the numbers speak for themselves, single-sex education is beneficial for both sex's. I am not a fan of single-sex institutions and have had several people I know attend an all boy or all girl high school, they seemed to enjoy it. I found it uncommon and weird on why people would want to go to a school of just men or women. But the numbers do not lie, graduation rates and job offerings seem to be a lot better to these people. Though I do not agree with a single-sex institution I would support them and believe they should continue on what they do. It will be very interesting if these schools continue to teach single-sex education or switch to a normal school over the next few years.

eoa 192-206, Animals 29-42
The first article is very interesting on how there are two sides to every story. race has been a problem in the world since mankind has existed. I do see a huge improvement over the last 50 years though. Just to think that we went from segregation to our first African American president is mind boggling. I would agree with Alabama being one of the more "segregated" cities in the United States. Its a shame we cant all come together as one country and live with peace and happiness. Segregation is obviously a dark cloud on the United States but I see major improvement and think we are heading in the right direction.
This article in Bekoffs book raising a good point and really goes into the thoughts and emotions of animals. I wonder the same thing on what goes through animals minds and thoughts as he or she is running around or just witnesses a dead family member. The answer is that we may never know. I do not know much about animals but I have been told some do not have thoughts. I know this sentence may be controversial and can be argued but thats all I know. However, I really have made a move to enjoy the areof animals over the last couple years.

Media, the "Mall", and Animal life
It is amazing how far the "media" has come over the last 20 years. The media is the reason actors and athletes are making as much money as they do. The media can make people believe what isn't true and can over-hype or under-hype any situation.
I think you can relate the media to the mall story as well. The media has a large part in creating what is right and wrong to wear in public and what is cool and not. It just makes you wonder why a pair or Prada shoes cost 600$ when they cost about that same price to make as a pair of 40$ Reebok's. With all this "life changing" experience people have at mall's, I can not say myself that I have encountered one and do not think about the food as "home cooked".
It is amazing on how my thoughts of animals have changed over the last few years. I use to think animals are worthless objects and didn't care for them at all, maybe this was because I have never owned a pet. But now I really begin to think about all the different types of animals there are and how unique they are. I do believe animals have emotions and think they are smarter then we think.

Terrorism
The first article was very interesting and included facts that many people, including myself did not know. I had no idea that the middle east had the least amount of reported terrorist cases out of any region. However, it may seem a little deceiving, in who the targets were. I think it is far more likely that the 16 cases were mostly aimed towards America and the 30 cases in Europe may have been aimed elsewhere. It is obvious that the "Middle East" is corrupted and the government is doing very little. The second article was a little harder to understand for myself, but in the end I would disagree. I do not see the white race in America for a very long time, There are about 230,000,000 people in America of Caucasian decent with the next closes race (Hispanic) at 45,000,000, Clearly a enormous difference.

EOA 85-90
It is very interesting of how some laws are written and enforced. I think it’s strange that the Fifth Amendment gives a person the right to remain silence; however a person can be held imprisoned until he or she decides to talk. I agree with holding a person imprisoned if they decide not to talk to a judge. I believe as an American citizen it is important to be fair and safe to every individual and if a person doesn’t want to talk they are hiding information that would probably incriminate somebody instead of letting dangerous people back on the streets. I also agree with the ticking tomb bomb theory and how it’s connected to torture and torture warrants. I believe by all means necessary it is right to protect innocent lives.

visual art
Many interesting and important points were made in this article about visual images. A picture is only as powerful as the people who view it. I do believe authors sometimes over exaggerate images to draw more attention to a subject. It is unfortunate that some images are paired with words that draw a negative perceptive. It seems as if they will create absurd titles and captions to grab attention and sell.
I am a visual learner so I enjoyed learning more about this subject and think it is amazing what technology has done over the last few years. The “digital” era makes taking, saving, and sending pictures very easy. It wasn’t that long ago when we couldn’t send pictures across the country or even world via cell phone.
I believe authors and writers need to spend more time creating a title or caption of a picture so that it is more accurate doesn’t offend anybody.

Declaration of Independence and American Cinema
I though Thomas Jefferson’s “Declaration of Independence” told his view on how the world works. Thomas Jefferson believed in three ideas, Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. A majority of his article is very negative of the British government stating their flaws and problems. He states his true feelings. It is evident that he did not get along well with the king of Britain. He makes sure everyone knows that he thinks the United States of America is the best country (colonies) in the world.
The “sex and the Cinema” article was very interesting and made some good points about nudity and films.
I totally agree in the fact that the top grossing movies every year do not contain sexual content. The top grossing movies year in and year out are movies that a lot of people can go see with one another. It is far more likely an entire family will go see Spiderman then Knocked-up. Directors and movie makers are in the business to make money, so Wal-Mart is obviously trying to lure in customers anyway possible to sell a product.

Human vs Animal Emotions
It is east to make an argument both ways about the relationship between human and animal emotions. some may believe animals have more emotions then humans and most probably believe animals do not have emotions. The elephant story about Babyls' experience and life makes a good example of the other elephants emotions about how they would help her out and stay behind for her even when she was holding the others up. We as humans learn to try to think before acting in that affects our decision making to try to do the right thing.
